I am a sucker for any Australian or New Zealand wine tasting but when you get the likes of a Master of wine “David LeMire” in town and he’s also an Aussie, its a no brainer.
Braving the beginnings of a major snow storm I headed down to North Loop Wine and spirits and descended into their cellar. Because of the weather I assume about a third of the attendees if not more left empty spaces.
The Evening covered 6 wines from “Shaw & Smith” ( Adelaide Hills) and “Tolpuddle Vineyard” (Tasmania) 3 Whites and 2 Pinot’s and 1 Shiraz.
Shaw & Smith 2018 Sauvignon Blanc.
WOW talk about tropical fruit forward with out even tasting it. This wine had a Juicy richness that I haven’t seen in a Sauvignon Blanc.
For me the one fruit that stuck out was passion fruit, but there is lots of fruit floating around in the glass.
