Part 2 of 3 – Malbec the Wine for Christmas.

Neal McMahonArgentina, Food & Wine Pairing, Malbec

So if you have read some of my past posts, I think outside the usual box. Im choosing a Malbec and here’s why.
Christmas surrounding holiday season isn’t like thanksgiving where 90 percent of the people will eat Turkey.

Malbec wine pairs well with red meat, but just as well with Turkey, Pork & Lamb and these spices, Sage, Rosemary, Cumin & Pepper.
Why Malbec? because its famous for its deep purple color and spicy, savory flavors.
Malbec wine is a perfect option for those who love strong flavored wine with plenty of body & structure. But Malbec’s usually have a short finish so pair it with the leaner cuts for your meal.

I picked these two Malbec’s as they should easily be found.
Mascota Vineyards Unanime Malbec , 2017 $24
Catena Malbec , 2019 $20
Serving suggestions.
Normally you would serve red wine at room temp. But throw your Malbec in the fridge for 20-30 mins to bring it just above room temperature. And because Malbec is a full bodied wine break out your wide mouth glass.
You can also decant the wine to help bring out the flavors by aerating the wine for about 30 mins.

Don’t forget to swirl. 🙂
